— CATHEDRAL PRECENTOR

   The Reverend Tony Kippax

Tony served as a parish priest in the Diocese of Christchurch, Wellington and Waiapu before arriving here, and as a Chaplain for the Mission to Seafarers while in Tauranga recently. Prior to being ordained in 2016, Tony served as an infantry officer in the New Zealand Army and, latterly in various contract management and logistic support roles, including as a truck and crane driver of for a time. He was also a lay minister and church warden for many years before being called to ordained life. These experiences help shape his approach to ministry and give him a good understanding of how the ministries of others fit together.

As the coordinator of several rosters Tony hopes to establish good relationships with all who are essential to getting the many moving parts of our Cathedral to work well together. His approach is consultative, as there is always more work than there are people to do it.

Tony is married to Christine, a Nurse Practitioner. They have three adult daughters and a total of five grandchildren. A Whippet, Bryn, completes the team and, as a friendly companion, he will serve in a welfare support role in the office from time to time.

HOLY TRINITY CATHEDRAL STRATEGIC DIRECTIONS 2020 - 2025

We are guided by the following five-fold mission of the Anglican Communion:

  • To proclaim the good news of the Kingdom of God

  • To teach, baptize and nurture new believers

  • To respond to human need by loving service

  • To seek to transform the unjust structures of society

  • To strive to safeguard the integrity of creation and to sustain and renew the life of the earth.

This definition of the mission of the Church is also enshrined in the Constitution of the Anglican Church in Aotearoa, New Zealand and Polynesia.

With this in mind, we have developed five-year Strategic Directions to better enable us to live out this mission which we are called to fulfill.
