About the Event

Holy Trinity Cathedral expresses manaakitanga to our Muslim friends by hosting this annual Iftar meal. This is a wonderful opportunity for our communities to learn from each other and witness to our common humanity as we work together for mutual understanding and a deepening dialogue.

WHAT IS IFTAR?

Iftar is the evening meal with which Muslims end their daily Ramadan fast at sunset. Muslims break their fast at the time of the call to prayer for the evening prayer. The daily fast during Ramadan begins immediately after the pre-dawn meal of Suhur and ends with the evening meal of Iftar.

The Iftar meal embodies the social aspect of Ramadan. It is about family and community where Muslim families often invite friends, family, neighbours and sometimes people they have never met into their homes to break bread and enjoy a meal together.

Cathedral parishioners are welcome to share in this celebration of Ramadan with our interfaith partners.
