Ministry and Supporting the Cathedral

The day to day life and worship of Holy Trinity Cathedral relies on the Cathedral parishioners but also a wider community of people from across the city of Auckland. You can be part of the daily life of the Cathedral in many different ways. If you are interested in any of these ministries and volunteers roles, please contact the Cathedral Office, (09) 303 9500 or one of the clergy.

Worship
In the worship life of the Cathedral there are many different opportunities for participation including servers, mastersof ceremony, vergers, readers, and sides people. There is also support required to enable the worship with volunteers to maintain the linen and Cathedral vestments and flowers.

Welcomers
If you have a few spare hours a week or month and would like to welcome visitors to the Cathedral, volunteers are always needed to distribute tour information and sell Cathedral shop items such as postcards and books. More than 20,000 visitors come from across the world to the Cathedral and St Mary’s each year and appreciate a smiling face to greet them.

The Friends
The Friends of Holy Trinity Cathedral Incorporated aims to support the Cathedral in its ministry to the city. The Friends was at the forefront of efforts to complete the building of the Cathedral. It was formed in 1986 as part of the celebrations marking the Centenary of the completion of St Mary’s in 1886, the first Cathedral Church. Social and fundraising events are held during the year, and a twice-yearly magazine is distributed to members. In 2008, a Cathedral Fair was a major fundraising initiative. An on-going project are blank cards featuring detailed photographs of some of the Great Windows and Nave windows. The cards are sold through the Cathedral Shop. Friends are openly invited to join us in worship, and prayers of support are asked for. Members' names are recorded for posterity in an index in the Cathedral. For more information about the Friends please contact the Friends' Chairperson: Robyn Bridgman, (09) 5240 241.
