TRINITY SUNDAY

TE RĀTAPU O TE TOKOTORU

Sentence: ‘You O God reign forever; your throne endures from generation to generation.’ Lamentations 5:19

Collect: Merciful and Loving God, you showed the fullness of your love when you sent your Son to be born as one of us and sent upon us the power of your Spirit. Complete in us the work of your love, that we, who have communion in Christ, may come to share fully the undying life he lives with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever. Amen.

Readings:

8am & 10am: Genesis 1:1-2:4a; 2 Corinthians 13:11-13; Matthew 28:16-20. 9am: Genesis 1:1-2:4a; Matthew 28:16-20. 5pm: Isaiah 6:1-8; John 16:5-15.

FROM THE PRIESTS IN CHARGE

The breadth of ministry within the life of the Cathedral is expressed in the 10am service on this Trinity Sunday, our ‘Feast of Title’.

The dedication of the Nicholson organ highlights the vital role of music in the worship of God and the nourishment of our spirits. The commissioning of ‘Ofa Langi as Children and Families Minister, and of Amar Anthony as Youth Minister, expresses our commitment to the pastoral care and Christian nurture of people of all ages. And the commissioning of Cathedral Council and Resources Board members reminds us that the ministry of oversight and wise management are of great importance in enabling everything else to take place.

The uniquely Christian understanding of God as a Community of Persons gives a powerful context to our life together in the Ministry of the Baptised, where the variety of gifts is valued, diversity of expression and understanding is honoured, and inclusiveness is encouraged and worked towards.

Today as we reflect on the triune mystery of God, may we see more clearly the mystery of ourselves as well – a multifaceted community with a unity of purpose, held together in the challenge and joy of interdependence.
