Fri 6 Mar 2009: A New Chapter in Cathedral Music

Rehearsals have begun for the new Youth Choirs at Holy Trinity Cathedral. The choirs will sing in their first service on Good Friday. The girls' choir consists of 17 members who meet on a Tuesday at 3:45pm. The boys' choir has 10 members and meets on a Thursday. There is a new practice room for this purpose in the Cathedral. This allows a space for learning and exploration of music in the Cathedral precinct and for the choristers to be familar with the space of the Cathedral in which they will sing services. Singing in worship on a weekly basis will help the young people to learn at a fast pace and enjoy the challenges of a new repertoire on a weekly basis. There are some vacancies and people should contact the Cathedral Organist Philip Smith on 303 9500 or email, philip@holy-trinity.org.nz
