Cathedral Welcomers

Cathedral Welcomers offer a significant ministry within the life of both St Marys and Holy Trinity Cathedral. Their role is to offer a warm welcome to visitors and tourists who come to our precinct.  All the team speak of the enriching experience of meeting people from around Aotearoa New Zealand and the world.

Some Welcomers have a duty once-a-month, some once-a-fortnight, while others have chosen to come in once-a-week. Morning duty hours are 10.00am-1.00pm and afternoons are 1.00-4.00pm during Daylight Saving and until 3.00pm during the rest of the year. If you are interested in learning more about the Cathedral Welcomers please contact their coordinator, Paul Kelly-Moore at care@holy-trinity.org.nz

Frozen Meal Ministry

Frozen Meal Ministry Team consists of parishioners and friends who provide two meals a month to our freezer collection.  These meals are then distributed by the Cathedral staff team in an effort to support either families or individuals who are experiencing particularly busy or challenging circumstances.  If you would like to join this team or know of somebody who would benefit from a meal, or two, please contact Paul Kelly-Moore at: care@holy-trinity.org.nz

Hospital Chapel Team

Approximately five times a year our Hospital Chapel Team attends the Sunday morning ecumenical Eucharist service at Auckland City Hospital.  Under the leadership of the Duty Chaplain and alongside ward staff, the team offer assistance to patients wanting to attend the service.  If you are interested in learning more about the Hospital Chapel Team please contact Paul Kelly-Moore at: care@holy-trinity.org.nz

Newcomers' Evening

Three to four times a year we hold a Cathedral Newcomers Evening to welcome all those who have recently joined our community of regular worshipers.  At these informal gatherings coffee and dessert are shared while there is the opportunity to meet Cathedral staff, fellow parishioners and other newcomers.  These evenings offer a wide range of information on the various groups and activities that operate within the community life at the Cathedral.  For more information on the next Newcomers Evening, please contact the Cathedral office.

Open4EM

This study and reflection groups meets fortnightly on a Monday evening for a shared meal and discussion.  A book of the Bible, last Sundays Sermon, an issue of interest, Church history, or theological reflection & the agenda is wide and engaging. New members always welcome. For more information please contact the Cathedral Office.

Prayer Ministry

  • Holy Trinity Cathedral's Prayer Chain The Cathedral Prayer Chain is a group of parishioners coordinated by Lynette Wright.  They respond promptly to specific prayer requests from individuals and families, as well as pray for those who have accepted the invitation to receive specific prayer.  The Prayer Chain meets together throughout the year with the Pastoral Care Minister (Paul Kelly-Moore) for guidance and support.  If you have a prayer request please contact Lynette on 845 0260 or, if unavailable, Paul on 303 9501.

The Friday Group

This Cathedral group gathers at 10.30am on the first Friday of each month in the Monteith Visitors Centre. Beginning with morning tea, the group is then addressed by a wide array of invited speakers from within and outside of the Cathedral community. Time is also allowed for questions. All are welcome. For information on upcoming meetings please see the Cathedral newsletter or contact the Cathedral office.
