Laid 6th February 1886.

1886 - 1888 (Chancel and 3 bays).

1888 - 1897 (Remaining 4 bays,                       Baptistry, Vestries).

Construction:

Vertical board & batten exterior, painted.

Exposed internal woodwork with diagonal matchboarding; all native timbers.

Roof double-piched, not internally trussed. Externally clad with slates in a
decorative pattern.

Iron tie rods added internally during the 1950s to strengthen roof and for earthquake protection.

Opened: 30th June 1888
Consecration: 30th November 1888 first half
25th August 1898 completed church.
