The Junior Choir at Holy Trinity Cathedral, affectionately known as the 'Choristars', was formed in 1999 by James Tibbles, then Acting Director of Music at the Cathedral, for the purpose of training Junior Choristers who would eventually progress to the adult Cathedral Choir. The Junior Choir is for singers aged 7 through to 12, and sings 2 – 3 times a term at Cathedral services and at major Cathedral festivals and events.

Rehearsals are held on Sundays during term-time from 11:30am – 12:30pm. The Choristars sing predominantly sacred music for unison or two-part treble voices, and the choir seeks to challenge and extend all of the singers' musical potential.

The Junior Choir aims to train young singers in the particular areas of sight-reading, musicianship, discipline and the Cathedral music tradition. Choristars are trained using the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM) 'Voice for Life' scheme, which teaches and tests all of these Cathedral specific skills.

The Conductor of the Choristars is Peter Godfrey Choral Conducting Scholar Margaret Hawkes.

New singers are always welcome. Please contact Margaret Hawkes to discuss how to join. For more information click here.
