Patteson Entrance
Looking through the oak trees, planted by Bishop Selwyn more
than 160 years ago as acorns brought from Windsor Great
Park. The Patteson Entrance is named for Bishop John "Coley"
Patteson, first Bishop of Melanesia, who was killed in 1871
as a direct result of slave trading, which was still being conducted
by some English seafarers and a few others.
