The LCM Saunders Choral
Scholarships.

These prestigious scholarships were established in memory of Lin Saunders (1908 - 1995) a former organist at St Mary's, a former Director of Music at King's College, and Music Critic for the NZ Herald. After his death friends colleagues and pupils created a fund to establish these much-sought scholarships.

The awards recognise young singers of exceptional talent and potential and provide some recompense for time spent preparing for and discharging their duties at the Cathedral. The number of holders has increased each year and the Trustees propose to award up to six scholarships in 2002.

Applications

Applications for scholarships, made to the Director of Music, close in mid-December of each year, though late applications may be considered in February.

Applicants should include a brief outline of musical interests and skills. While holders may be male or female, preference is given to applicants between 17 and 27 years of age.
