Cathedral Music Foundation
President: John Marchant Hon Secretary: Emma Goessi
Address: PO Box 37148, Parnell, Auckland 1151.
Purpose:
The Cathedral Music Foundation exists to support and promote excellence of musical standards at Holy Trinity Cathedral.
The Cathedral Music School
Since its inception in 1987, the Foundation has awarded a great number of choral and organ scholarships to students for their support while serving at the Cathedral. In its turn, the Music School, established in 1992, has provided voice training for numerous Cathedral choristers. More recently, the Foundation has given financial support, of a variety of kinds, to music in the Cathedral.
For the greater part of 1999 and 2000 the Foundation was in recess to protect its capital fund, which has been preserved intact and has since resumed its support of music in worship at Holy Trinity Cathedral.
Future Intentions
As its financial resources grow, the Foundation intends establishing its own Cathedral Orchestra to support orchestral masses as well as providing specialised instrumental training through the Cathedral Music School. Beyond those objectives, the Foundation aims to give financial support for the professional development of the Director of Music and to commission settings of the Eucharist for use in the Cathedral.
In recognition of significant contributions to music in worship at Holy Trinity Cathedral, the Foundation has awarded several Choral Fellowships during the past fourteen years. It will now be awarding Fellowships to others for their outstanding contributions to music at the Cathedral.
Generosity of Parishioners & Others.
Nothing of what has been done by the Foundation and the Music School could have been possible without the remarkable generosity of parishioners and many others who value excellence of music in worship.
